| Description | Former child performer with substantial stage credits who played the title character on Broadway for two years in the hit musical Annie. Managing the transition from child to adult roles, Parker divided her time between stage, TV and films, often playing aggressive or even strident young women. She starred on TV as the bookish bean-pole Patty Greene on the schoolgirl comedy, Square Pegs (1982-83); was a member by marriage of the family under scrutiny in A Year in the Life (1987-88); and played a rookie district attorney on Equal Justice (1990-91). She won acclaim for her deftly comic portrayal as the flaky, pirouetting SanDeE opposite Steve Martin in L.A. Story (1991), moved up to leading lady status for Honeymoon in Vegas (1992), and played the sexiest of three kooky witches in the Disney comic fantasy Hocus Pocus (1993). |
